Introducing Soma Roots Therapy: A New Chapter (with a Lot of Plot Twists)

After eight years entwined in and supported by the group practice I first joined right out of grad school, I’m thrilled (and, let’s be honest, slightly terrified in a good way) to announce a leap into the unknown: the birth of my own practice, Soma Roots Therapy. If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “Well, this wasn’t on my bingo card,” you’ll get the spirit of this next chapter—because, apparently, surprises are my unofficial career theme song.

Embracing the Plot Twists

Like any therapist worth their salt (or, in my case, herbal tea collection), I didn’t set out with a roadmap marked “Found: Soma Roots Therapy, Next Exit.” My career’s been a series of unexpected turns—some dazzling, some dizzying. Each surprise has pushed me to stretch, unlearn, and lean into discomfort in ways I never expected. Turns out, uncertainty is a pretty fabulous teacher.

Why Soma Roots?

Here’s where honesty meets hope: Soma Roots Therapy is a space seeded with the values I wish had always been at the center of mental health care. Healing, self-compassion, and Body Trust (as lovingly defined by the Center for Body Trust) aren’t add-ons—they’re the soil and sunlight. This is a therapy home for folks who want to rebuild trust with their bodies, move through the world with more kindness toward themselves, and explore their stories through a lens that honors identity, neurodiversity, and liberation.

A Small Group with a Big Heart

My vision is small (on purpose) but mighty: a slow-growing practice that centers healing, connection, and belonging. Here, we celebrate difference as a superpower—neurodiversity isn’t a buzzword, it’s table stakes. Let’s welcome lived experience, cultural wisdom, intersecting identities, and a healthy dose of irreverent humor to the therapy process. You deserve a therapist who roots for your wholeness, not just your “progress.”

Growing Together—With Humor and Grit

Launching Soma Roots Therapy is my love letter to clients (past, present, and future) and to practitioners who crave a practice built on social justice, body liberation, and showing up as your unfiltered self. Expect messiness, moments of radical honesty, and at least one plant. Healing is never linear, and neither is building a values-driven practice. What you can expect? A commitment to walking this path with authenticity, fierce compassion, and space for a laugh (or a therapeutic groan)—sometimes all at once.

If you’re seeking a therapy space where you can be gloriously, complicatedly yourself—welcome to Soma Roots Therapy. Let’s grow something beautiful and unexpected together.
