How We Work
__________
We work with your whole person — the part that knows things intellectually, the part that holds it in your chest, and the part that’s been quietly running survival strategies since childhood and maybe deserves a break.
Gestalt
Working with what is alive in the room right now, rather than only analyzing the past.
Internal Family Systems
Meeting the different parts of you — including the protective ones — with curiosity instead of judgment.
Somatic Therapy
Following what the body already knows, because trauma lives in the nervous system, not just the story.
How much of each shows up depends on what you bring that day, and all three are held within a Body Trust® and body liberation foundation.
02
Who This Helps
__________
You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or the right words to begin. If any of this sounds familiar, that is enough to start a conversation.
Therapy can often begin with just one of these sounding familiar:
Your nervous system never fully powers down, even when nothing is wrong.
You understand your patterns intellectually, but nothing has shifted in your body.
You are autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent, and masking has started to cost more than it protects.
Your relationship with your body, food, or appetite feels like a battleground.
You are carrying something that predates language, or that no one ever named out loud.
You are queer, trans, or questioning, and want to explore identity, belonging, and grief without translating yourself first.
None of this means something is wrong with you. It means your system adapted to something real, and adaptation can be worked with.

What A Session Is Like
__________
The unknown is its own barrier to starting, so here is the shape of it before you commit to anything.
A free 20-minute consult. You ask questions, we get a feel for each other, and either of us can say this is not the right fit without it being awkward.
Before We Begin
Mostly orientation. What brought you here, what you have already tried, what you want to be different. No requirement to tell the whole story on day one.
Intake Session
Ongoing Work
By secure video. Some weeks are talking, some are noticing what happens in your body as you talk. We follow what is actually present rather than a protocol.
Nothing somatic is ever done to you, and nothing is required of you. You can decline any suggestion, exercise, or invitation and still be doing the work.
04
Body Trust® and Body Liberation
__________
Most people have been taught to treat their body as a project. We start from the opposite assumption: your body is a source of information, not a problem.
Weight-Neutral Care
We will not prescribe weight loss, track your body size or shape, or treat it as the problem to be solved.
No Prerequisites
You do not have to change your body to deserve care, comfort, or respect in this room.
For Every Client
This is not a specialty track for eating concerns. It shapes how we work with everyone.
More on Body Trust® and body liberation →
Body Trust® is a framework developed by Hilary Kinavey and Dana Sturtevant. We hold it as a foundational value, alongside body liberation, in every part of our work.

The Way You Coped Made Sense
__________
If your nervous system learned to stay on guard, disconnect, or go quiet, that made sense once. We’ll work with it rather than against it, at a pace you set.

Common Questions
__________
The things people ask in a consult, answered before you have to ask them.
Is somatic therapy right for me if I am not a “body person”?
Yes. Most people arrive disconnected from their body, and that is often the point. We start with noticing, not with exercises.
How is IFS different from regular talk therapy?
Instead of arguing with the part of you that procrastinates or shuts down, we get curious about what that part has been protecting.
What if therapy has not gone well before?
Then you already know what does not work for you, and that is useful. Tell us early what went wrong — we would rather adjust than repeat it.
Do I have to talk about my trauma?
No. You set the pace and the level of detail. Trauma work can and does happen without retelling the story in full.
How long do people usually stay in therapy?
It varies widely. We check in regularly about what is working, including whether it is time to wrap up.
What if I need to move, fidget, or look away while we talk?
Please do. Pace, knit, stim, look out the window — whatever helps you stay present. There is no right way to be in a session.
